ABOUT
The Southeast Corridor (SEC) Commission is leading the effort to connect states across the Southeast megaregion through passenger and freight rail. The Commission is charged with developing the Southeast Regional Rail Plan, reporting on the economic benefits of rail along the corridor, creating an implementation plan, and prioritizing major projects. The goal of this effort is to improve the mutual cooperation and planning between states and stakeholders to position the corridor to receive direct federal funding. The SEC extends from Washington, D.C., through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, to Florida.
LATEST UPDATES
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) awards over $368 Million in grants nationwide and over $105 Million in Southeast states to improve both freight and passenger rail in the region. Key awards include $58M to North Carolina and Virginia to improve the Raleigh to Richmond segment of the Southeast Corridor and $16 M for the Tampa to Orlando high-speed rail route in Florida.

The Tier 1 Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision (FEIS/ROD) for the Tier 1 Atlanta to Charlotte Passenger Rail Corridor Investment Plan (PRCIP) was published in the Environmental Protection Agency Federal Register. FRA has identified and selected the Greenfield Corridor Alternative as the Preferred Corridor Alternative based on analysis presented in the Tier 1 DEIS.
